Indispensable!

I bought this book at the local bookstore after looking at other books in the same area. I have only read a few articles - however, I USE THE FOOD COMPOSITION TABLES CONSTANTLY! This is Section IX - Table of Food Composition, starting on page 389. The authors give 35 elements in each food (after measure and weight) - starting with calories, protein, numerous vitamins and minerals, and the 8 essential amino acids. If you're trying to understand which foods contain the most of a certain element, this is great! This (or something like it) is a must-have for dealing with various diets! I use this all the time to look up vegetables, fruits, beans, meats, etc.

Very helpful, except for counting fiber intake.

I own the 1979 version of Nutrition Almanac. It has been very helpful to me in information, and in tracking my nutrition intake. However, I recently started counting grams of fiber, and started questioning when I couldn't get anywhere near the RDA of 25 grams. Then I remembered that years ago, insoluable fiber was not included in nutrition information, as it's benefit was not yet known. So I decided to purchase the latest version, and to my surprise, it has the same low fiber numbers as my 1979 version. I looked up 3 different fruits in this book and another, and there was a huge difference in grams of fiber listed. Other than this, it's a great book - mine is falling apart from use. If you want to increase your natural sources of vitamins and minerals, this book will show you which foods they are in.

About the Author

Big Saxon Fan!

I am already familiar with Saxon math and love the way lessons cover one skill but then also have practice for many other skills to help with retention. I actually purchased this one for use in private tutoring. Each lesson offers a variety of problems and requires knowledge of various skills. It works very well in the tutoring setting. It gives my student a chance to see what they already know as well as alerts me to when a certain skill needs to be focused on so that it can be mastered. This is the perfect book for tutoring math and helping to reinforce skills.

Saxon math practice book

What I love about Saxon is that I can cover 25 concepts in one lesson on a daily or weekly basis to support what both my child and my after-school students are trying to master. Saxon is concrete for skill mastery across the ability board.

Well written and most thought provoking! I agree with his premise that all believers should be prepared to be in this world when antichrist makes his grand debut. If the first church, and all our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ through the years, had to be subject to persecution, what makes the end time church so special to escape? The church today has grown lukewarm and doesn't even present the fact that sin, of any kind, is an Obama nation to a Holy God. We must wake-up!

God is doing a new thing---unsealing understanding of His prophetic scriptures. Many of us see and feel this. Nelson Walters has been obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit and has written Are We Ready for Jesus?---a book to help awaken the Church and teach us how to get ready for Jesus' second coming. Nelson gives new insight into the end-times teaching of Jesus' Olivet Discourse and reveals unique understanding of five parables Jesus used to convey end-times messages on how the Church needs to prepare for His coming. The Holy Spirit has revealed these understandings because the time to prepare has come.

Nelson's book is highly recommended. This teaching is a game changer in many ways to help awaken pastors and parishioners alike. The message needs to resound within America's churches and in churches around the world.

As suggested, I have given my pastor a copy; he read it in one day, and he is fully "on board." I just placed an order for 25 books to give out to folks in our church. Tribulation and apostasy are coming. We need to be prepared.

I feel the author forces his own meaning of "watching until His return" and takes that meaning to chastise the church. I almost stopped reading the book and was ready to throw it out, but I decided to give it a fair read. The second part of the book reveals the author's heart for the lost and his desire to see as many saved as possible; thus his forceful beginning. While I don't necessarily agree with all of his views, I really admire his heart.
