A How-To Book for Human Capital

Human capital is a concept that has been evolving to explain a major portion of the intangibles underlying market valuation of a company. Jim Haudan is providing the key to leveraging human capital. Investment of financial capital is routinely justified by monitoring the return on investment. Investment of scarce resources in human capital can deliver outsized returns, as Haudan clearly illustrates.

There is a difference in performance between a company whose employees routinely deliver discretionary effort and a company whose employees are marking time until the end of the work day, work week, or retirement. The contrasting depiction of engagement and disengagement in this book shows the path to energizing employees, who then deliver results.

The Art of Engagement offers an abundance of wisdom in how any organization can benefit from the hearts and minds of its membership. These incredible resources are all too often wasted, but the chances of that will be far less for those business leaders who embrace Haudan's lessons of engagement.

Providing employees the opportunity to understand and influence their work and how they contribute to achieving the overall mission of the organization is highest form of recognition any company can give.

INCONCLUSIVE

First, let clear, I will always recommend any PP books. There were some questions left unanswered. After the first encounter the relationship didn't t progress romantically. Why didn't t a Coco see that the neighbor was blatantly trying to sleep with her man? Finally, it ended too abruptly. No closure. This had PP potential.

This was an ok read, the story was short. I like Coco and Tyrone story but I felt everything was rushed towards the end. I think the story had the potential to be a great read if it had been longer.

Awesome read

This as an awesome read and Pepper Pace is an awesome writer. If you are not familiar with her style or subjects, then I recommend you give her a try. However, if you are not strong enough to handle complex characters or the nitty gritty of living in urban society, then you could either read for some insight or just let the hardcore fans take over for you. Now to the book:

Coco (Llanyeah) seems to be living in her own world, inside her bedroom, and content with being inside of her mind. In this book, Swamiji describes His spiritual journey as a child which led Him to the Himalayas and how He met his Guru - Dadagurudev Shiv Baba and other ageless yogis in the deep Himalayas. A recommended book for all the spiritual aspirants.

Well intentioned, good research poor checking.

The reference sources and archves were well used for the subjects he has covered here, but he makes no aattempt to reconcile himself to the realities of the case by using current reference sources such as Janes', such that when we get into areas of real revelation, he is all at sea. For instance a basic misunderstanding of the prewar terminology of Cruiser and Battleship, and even the relevance of it, leaves him with 2 battleships and a cruiser in Vladivostok harbour, rather than the 2 wonderful large pre-1905 vintage cruisers photographed and described by such as Frances Farmborough [ search Amazon!] and by the heavy hitters and such writers such as Dobson's: the Day we almost bombed Moscow. Again and again he takes you to interseting sources: look at the Tsingtau bombardments, for example, and yet the depiction leaves you fumbling, determined to get into the manuscript sources to ensure that is what really happened.
There is so much here to spark off the imagination, but for the serious researcher it is a caution: check, check,check.

the author has a wonderful insight on the value of documented history.
